After two action-packed weeks of world class Rainbow Six esports action, we finally have our winner of BLAST R6 Copenhagen. The Brazilian boys of w7m esports took down Team Liquid in an absolutely one-sided final to take the trophy home to Rio. Find out more about their journey at the tournament and how they made it possible!

Road To The Finals

W7m Esports had to take the harder route of the tournament by going through the play-ins stage. The team started off in group D with the likes of Team Bliss, Wolves Esports and Varrel. In the upper bracket semifinals of group D, w7m defeated Team Bliss 7-1 to make it to the upper bracket final. Their opponent was the mighty Wolves Esports who conceded to them 7-4. Thus, they qualified for the playoffs.

In the playoffs, they won all 3 of their matches defeating SCARZ, Team Liquid and Soniqs one after the other. Finishing at the top of the table, they had qualified for the finals. In the quarterfinals, they faced MNM Gaming who they defeated 2-1. Next, they faced Soniqs yet again and it was the same result with Soniqs losing 2-0. Eventually, in the grand finals of BLAST R6 Copenhagen, w7m esports faced Team Liquid for the second time in the tournament.

Map 1 (Skyscraper)

At Skyscraper, it was w7m that started on attack first. From the get go, their aggression reminded R6 fans why they are in the finals. And thanks to this aggression, they picked up the first 3 rounds with ease. Team Liquid recollected themselves and responded by winning round number four. But w7m again picked up the next two rounds before the sides were reversed.

Team Liquid started attack with newfound energy as they picked up the first 4 rounds to get back at the game. The scoreline was then tied at 5-5. The map could go to any team but it was w7m that picked up 2 more rounds to win the first map 7-5.

Map 2 (Bank)

It was now time to play on Team Liquid’s pick as they started Bank on attack. This time it was Team Liquid that started the map off with a statement. They showed nothing but domination in the first 2 rounds as they picked up both. However, w7m levelled the odds as they then won 2 rounds of their own. A nail-biting 1v1 in round number 5 between resetz and Kheyze so resetz come out on top for Team Liquid. With w7m winning another round, the first half ended 3-3.

With w7m now on attack, they needed to step up to retain their lead in the series. They won their first round on attack but the second round was conceded to a defuse by Team Liquid. With round number 9 secured, w7m was in the lead again. Their lead was short-lived as Liquid then overtook them winning 2 rounds back to back. It was match point for Team Liquid but w7m wasn’t giving up that easy as they forced the match to go to overtime. With 2 rounds needed to win in overtime, w7m didn’t waste a minute to win both of the rounds and pick up map number two of the night.

Map 3 (Chalet)

Chalet was w7m’s last pick of the series. They needed to make their final map pick count if they wanted to clinch the championship in just 3 maps. Team Liquid started on attack but w7m took the first round of the map. The second round went to Team Liquid but w7m took the next to take back the lead. Things were going back and forth as Liquid yet again levelled the scoreline. And with both teams taking a round each between the 2 remaining rounds of the first half, the scoreline was level at 3-3.

With w7m now on defense, they had to be sturdy if they wanted to avoid another map. They looked relentless on defense as they kept picking up one round after the other. Despite a bold attempt by volpz in round 10, w7m saw it through and won Chalet 7-3 to pick up the title.

And just like that, w7m Esports have been crowned the champions of BLAST R6 Copenhagen Major.

With only four teams remaining, we are at the peak of BLAST R6 Copenhagen Major. Today we have the two semifinals: w7m Esports vs Soniqs & FaZe Clan vs Team Liquid. With two promising matches in store, let’s take a look at the predictions of BLAST Copenhagen semifinals.

BLAST R6 Copenhagen Semifinals Predictions

FaZe Clan vs Team Liquid

Rosters

FaZe Clan
  • Jaime ‘Cyber’ Ramos
  • Lucas ‘soulz1’ Schinke
  • Victor ‘VITAKING’ Augusto dos Santos
  • Thiago ‘Handyy’ Sá Ferreira
  • Eduardo ‘KDS’ Chiste Fontes
Team Liquid
  • André ‘nesk’ Oliveira
  • Luccas ‘Paluh’ Molina
  • Pablo ‘resetz’ Oliveira
  • Lorenzo ‘Lagonis’ Volpi
  • Gabriel ‘volpz’ Fernandes

Our Prediction

The first semifinal of the night will be between FaZe Clan and Team Liquid. There’s no doubting that both are heavyweights in the world of Rainbow Six Siege. If we’re talking recent form, FaZe Clan have displayed a better performance during the playoffs finishing second to w7m. Meanwhile, Team Liquid finished 6th and barely made it into the finals stage. In terms of head-to-head, FaZe have won their last two meetings against Team Liquid. Can they do it this time around? Well, it will surely be a close one and it’s highly likely that we’ll play out all three maps. Owing to recent form, we predict a 2-1 victory for FaZe Clan.

W7m Esports vs Soniqs

Rosters

W7m Esports
  • Gustavo ‘HerdsZ’ Herdina
  • Diego ‘Kheyze’ Zanello
  • João ‘Jv92’ Vitor
  • Felipe ‘FelipoX’ De Lucia
  • Felipe ‘nade’ Sá Ferreira
Soniqs
  • Pablo ‘Gryxr’ Rebeil
  • Richie ‘Rexen’ Coronado
  • Emilio ‘Geometrics’ Leynez Cuevas
  • Shaun ‘Gunnar’ Pottorff
  • Ben ‘CTZN’ McMillan

Our Prediction

Our second semifinal of Copenhagen will be taking place between w7m and Soniqs. Both the teams have displayed a dominant form throughout the duration of the tournament. W7m were unbeaten during the playoffs winning all three of their matches. Meanwhile, Soniqs lost one match and it was against w7m themselves. With that in mind, it is highly likely that w7m will be repeating the result. Soniqs will have to put on a nasty show if they want to see themselves in the finals. So, we predict that it will be a 2-1 win for w7m esports.

We’ll see at the end of the night which two teams make their way to the finals of the BLAST R6 Copenhagen Major.

Match Proceedings

The match began with G2 starting on defense. An early kill of Bullet1 eased the round for G2. Soulz1 put up quite the fight but it was too little, too late as G2 picked up the first round. But FaZe responded strongly as they breached the site fast, planting right after picking up kills. The score was then even at 1-1. FaZe then went for an ambitious attacking plan in the next round but it fell into pieces and G2 picked up the round. But the scores were level once again as FaZe won round 4. FaZe did not stop there as they went on to win the next two rounds as well with the scoreline reading 4-2 in their favor.

The roles were now reversed as it was FaZe’s turn to defend. But FaZe replicated their level of dominance in the attacking rounds as they won the first two defending rounds with ease. Round 9 provided quite the entertainment as G2 won a well-deserved 2v3. With matchpoint, FaZe was supposed to win it sooner or later but won it the craziest way possible. An insane ace by Cyber secured the match for FaZe.

FaZe Clan really showed that they’re a force to be reckoned with at Six Berlin Major 2022.
