Valorant Champions Tour

The Valorant Champions tour is the talk of the town these days as we are only a few weeks away from the first time teams from all of the regions will come in one place and face against each other. This will be a major step in growing the fanbase of Competitive Valorant for sure, but we know that there is so much confusion going around for new fans who are unaware of how it will work.

Valorant was only launched in June 2020 but it has quickly become a esports fans favourite. The creators of League of Legends, Riot games are behind Valorant. Here at Gamopo we see Valorant growing from strength to strength and that means betting on Valorant is going to become popular.

Therefore, it’s time we help you out in answering all of your questions and will equip you with the knowledge you need to enjoy the competitive games throughout the year.

What is Valorant Champions Tour?

Valorant Champions Tour is the official name of the competitive season by Riot Games that will be played throughout the year. It will be mainly divided in three main stages. Valorant Challengers, Valorant Masters and Valorant Champions. The most basic tournament that will be officially hosted by Riot Games itself is Valorant Challengers, and two finalists from every region will go ahead and qualify for the Valorant Masters tournament. The teams will get points based on their performance in these Valorant Masters tournament which will be the main factor behind the qualification for Valorant Champions, the end of year World Championship for Valorant.

What’s the format for Valorant Challengers?

Valorant Challengers will happen three times a year and is divided into stages. Every stage will have it’s own three divisions – Challengers 1, Challengers 2 and Challengers Final. We have already been through Stage 1 of Valorant Challengers throughout the world and are currently in the Stage 2 where teams are fighting for a place in the Valorant Masters tournament.

Challengers 1 is the first phase of the tournament and teams qualify for it by playing open qualifiers against teams of their region which means everyone can participate. The top four will qualify for the Challengers Final while the bottom four will get another chance at redemption as they will be the four teams already in the top eight of the Challengers 2. The top four from Challengers 2 will join the top four from Challengers 1 and meet them in the Challengers Final.

The winner and (depending on the region) the runner up will qualify for the Masters tournament where teams from all over the world will come and play against each other.

Whats the format for Valorant Masters tournaments?

There will be three Valorant Masters tournaments taking place in a year, the first in March, the second in May and the last in September. The tentative plan for the contestants and the spots given to every region is:

North America 3

Europe 4

Brazil 2

Japan 2

Korea 2

Southeast Asia 2

Latin America 1

This is the total number of teams that will be decided by both the results of Challengers Finals and open qualifiers played to give the teams who missed out another chance to participate at the international tournament. There is no information available yet in relation to the format of the tournament itself but we are sure we are bound to get groups of four similar to how Riot Games conduct their annual League of Legends World Championship.

Who are the best teams in the world?

There is a lot of variance when it comes to FPS games and an introduction of a single new character or a buff/nerf to a gun can completely topple the structure of the standings but we will still help you out if you are looking to watch and learn some elite level of Valorant.

Vision Strikers from Korea are currently the best team in the world and are still undefeated ever since they came onto the scene. They are currently 100-0 which is a record that no team in the history of any FPS game has been able to pull off. It will be interesting to see how they perform against teams from North America and Europe in the first Valorant Masters tournament.

If you are a western Valorant fan then you should definitely keep an eye out for Sentinels and G2 Esports. They both have been elite teams since the start of the competitive Valorant, and despite them having a few hiccups in the last couple of months, they are two organizations that are really serious about winning and are definitely making the right steps to do that.
